TUESDAY, October 28 at Tech & Learning Conference in Seattle
  • Began the day at a breakfast with a keynote speaker. The information was interesting but was a bit confused as to the point. Finally the presenter explained what his 'product' is -- EAST Project. E.A.S.T. = Educational and Spatial Technologies. CEO Matt Dozier presented his product of project-based learning through a 'box' system. Seemed to work well for some districts in the south.
  • Spent the entire day inside the Seattle Conference Center. This was the goal of the conference but seemed like such a shame given the beautiful city we are in. For dinner we finally got out and saw some of the city. We attended a vendor gathering in the Space Needle. How fun was that! I will include pictures soon.

WEDNESDAY, October 29 still in Seattle

  • Started the day in the small fitness gym in hotel. Very interesting fitness room in our hotel. I entered in to run on the treadmill. The room looked bigger than it was. There was one wall with mirrors from floor to ceiling. The machines were all faced towards the mirrored wall. The TV was behind us in the middle of the room. I actually had to watch the TV news reading it backwards. WHY??? I can't uinderstand why the hotel chose to install the machines facing away from the TV. Go figure that one out?!?!?
  • The sessions I chose today were a bit different than yesterday's. Yesterday I focused on finding sessions that were based on the online learning model. I wanted more information on what other district were doing. As it turned out, I felt the ones that I attended were presenting information that I already had. It was redundant.
  • Today I went through the catalog and focused on sessions that I wanted to learn more about. Adobe is one of those topics. So I attended a session on the Elements: PHotoshop and Premier. Fantastic product!!!! Sitting next to Mrs. Kingsley and Mr. Henry was even better. Their enthusiasm for these products was rewarding to watch. They kept bouncing off ideas with each other about what they would do if they had this product. Wow... truest sense of collaborative planning.
